Hot Tub Filter Cleaning - Quick Guide

Hot Tub Filter Cleaning - Quick Guide

Keeping your hot tub filters clean is one of the easiest ways to maintain clear water, proper circulation, and long-term spa performance. Follow this simple routine to keep your filters working their best.

Weekly: Rinse Your Filters

  • Turn the spa power OFF

  • Remove the filters

  • Rinse thoroughly using a garden hose

  • Gently separate the pleats and rotate the filter while rinsing to remove trapped debris

  • Reinstall the filters once clean

Monthly: Overnight Water Soak

  • Turn the spa power OFF

  • Rinse filters first to remove loose debris

  • Soak filters overnight in clean, lukewarm water only

  • Rinse thoroughly before reinstalling

Tip: If you don’t have a spare set of filters, keep the spa powered off while your filters are soaking.

Filter Replacement: Every 3–4 Months

While regular cleaning helps extend filter life, filters are not designed to last forever.

We recommend inserting brand new filters every 3–4 months. Weekly rinsing and monthly overnight water soaks are the best way to remove built-up residue, but after approximately four months of use, the Microban Antimicrobial Protection and Silver Ion Technology in our blue Microban filters becomes less effective.

At this stage, you may notice:

  • The plastic changing colour

  • Residue becoming harder to remove

  • Reduced water flow or filtration performance

When this happens, it’s time to dispose of the filters and replace them with new ones for optimal water quality and hygiene.

Why This Matters

Regular filter maintenance:

  • Maintains proper water flow

  • Improves water clarity

  • Helps protect pumps, heaters, and internal spa components

  • Reduces strain on your filtration system

Safety & Warranty Notice

  • Always ensure the pump is not running when filters are removed

  • Never operate the spa without filters installed

  • Use water only when cleaning filters

  • Do not use chemicals, cleaners, or solvents, as these may damage the filter and affect warranty coverage
