How Long Should I Be in My Hot Tub? A Safety Guide

How Long Should I Be in My Hot Tub? A Safety Guide

At Canadian Spa Company, we prioritize your relaxation and well-being. Our hot tubs offer a perfect escape, but it’s important to acknowledge the guidelines of safe hot tub use! Here's your guide on how long you should stay in your hot tub to maximize enjoyment, wellbeing, and safety.

General Timing for Hot Tub Use

Aim for 15 to 45 minutes per session, adjusting based on factors like age, health, temperature preferences, and the season.

If you're new to hot tubs, start with shorter sessions and gradually increase your time as you get comfortable. Remember, you can always return for another soak later!

Key Factors to Consider

1. Temperature

Cooler Soaks: At 98°F, you can soak longer, as it's close to body temperature.

Warm Soaks: 100-102°F is ideal for most healthy adults for up to 30 minutes with proper hydration.

Hot Soaks: At 104°F, limit your time to 15-20 minutes and stay hydrated.

2. Age

Children: Limit hot tub time to 5 minutes at 104°F or up to 15 minutes at lower temperatures. Avoid full-body immersion.

Seniors (60+): Consider lower temperatures and shorter durations.

3. Health

Pregnant Adults: Consult your doctor before entering a hot tub. Keep water temperature below 102°F and limit soaks to 10 minutes.

Medical Conditions: If you have high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, or take medications that cause drowsiness, consult your doctor before using a hot tub.

4. Weather/Season

If it’s winter, Keep water below 100°F and soak for up to 15 minutes to prevent overheating, as your body is already working harder to maintain its core temperature in the cold weather. Wearing a hat can help regulate your temperature in colder weather.

Listen to Your Body

Always pay attention to how you feel. Stay hydrated by keeping a bottle of water nearby. If you feel dizzy or light-headed, exit the hot tub, cool down, and stay hydrated! :)

At Canadian Spa Company, your health and safety are our top priorities. By following these guidelines, you can enjoy your hot tub to the fullest while staying safe and comfortable. Now you can safely unwind and let the soothing waters wash your stress away, knowing you're in good hands.
