In September 2026, we had the privilege of partnering with the Shine Foundation to make a very special dream come true for Naiya Clarke, a 16-year-old from Edmonton, Alberta living with Acute Flaccid Myelitis (AFM).
Naiya's Story
Naiya was diagnosed with AFM at just six years old. The rare neurological condition left her paralyzed from the neck down. Over the years, she has shown incredible strength, working through hospital visits and physiotherapy sessions as part of her ongoing recovery. Through it all, she has continued to deal with significant daily pain.
When the Shine Foundation asked Naiya about her dream, she knew exactly what she wanted: a spa and hot tub oasis right in her own backyard.
How It Came Together
The Shine Foundation works to grant meaningful wishes to children and youth living with serious physical disabilities across Canada. When they reached out to Canadian Spa Company, we were honoured to be part of making Naiya's dream a reality.
Together, we helped create a complete backyard retreat for Naiya, including a hot tub and gazebo, a space designed for comfort, warmth, and moments of relief from the pain she lives with every day.
The story was covered by Global News, and we couldn't be prouder to have played a role in it.
